Walter White? Visiting our Niece and her new home

Who is Walter White? A couple of folks asked.

He was the main character on the series "breaking bad", which was set in Albuquerque. If you have not seen it, it is on netflix.  I loved it, Catherine thought it was OK.
Saturday, we went over to our niece's house to help her set up her pool.  I probably would have gotten a yard before the pool. But  hey - it ain't my house :).  We helped her get it set up and then had a BBQ while it filled up. We cooked steak, fish, chicken and corn on the grill and had a big green salad- perfect meal with good company :)
I  joined Sarah for a dip in the pool after dinner.  It was a little too refreshing (cold) for me.

The wind kicked up late in the afternoon as we headed back to the campground.  It looked like a rain storm but as we got closer it was just a dirt storm.  Now, I remember why we don't live in New Mexico.  I just hate the wind.  We had left the awning over our door out and it was flapping something crazy but I got it pulled in without damage.  We even put the sat dish down.  The wind blew a good part of the night but  with the breeze's smaller slides and lower profile it did not bother us much-just some gentle rocking.

This morning we watched a documentary produced by one of Catherine's college friends.  It is called "The Day it Snowed in Miami".  It is about the gay rights movement in South Florida.  It was very well done. Check your local PBS station for showings this month.

We had lunch at Sadie's.  We got the biggest burritos I have ever seen.  I think they will end up being 3 meals- for 20 bucks.  They were very good.
Then, we went back over to our niece's house so I could show her how the pool vacuum works.  Grace was bored with the whole deal, but had a nice nap on the porch.
We had a very good visit.  We are really proud of our niece.  Her little house is well built and nicely decorated.
It looks like the wind will rock us to sleep again tonight but the weather looks good for our drive to Raton tomorrow.  I never worked on the lights  for the toad.  So, I guess we will go with the back up system until we are back in Las Cruces in July.

I remember the wind in NM but I loved it there, in spite of itself :)

  4. Me too -I'm with your niece and all my friends above, forget the yard, just get the pool. One maintenance chore per yard is enough. Love the pink floats picture and the great one of the lovely Grace. So when do I visit NM to avoid the winds and especially the dust storms? I'll be you are going to say never, right?
