Visit from Murphy.....Back in Duke City.....

Once we got going, it was a good trip. We found a great place to fuel right by our campground in Las Cruces. It is an unmanned fuel card station that also takes visa and Mastercard. We filled up the Breeze at a good price. As we filled, I hooked up the truck. The disconnect was a little stiff but it finally disconnected. As we always do before we roll, we checked the lights- no lights, no brake lights, no turn lights, nada, nothing....
I carry a spare set of lights. After plugging in the cord between the truck and Breeze and unplugging about 10 times, I just got the spares out. I taped them to the bars on top of the truck camper and got them plugged up. Ok, 20 minutes wasted but we got lights. The spare set works fine.  It is either the cord or the truck wiring that is a problem. I may try to get another cord at camping world in ABQ or we may just roll with the spares. After that, the travel to ABQ was smooth.
We are north of ABQ at the KOA in Bernalillo.  We decided to give this a try since our niece has moved north of Albuquerque and we will be headed north on I-25 when we leave here.  So far, it is OK. It has a good view of the Sandia mountains.
However, it does not have the fun feel of Enchanted trails.  Because we stay at the KOA in San Antonio so much (due to the good location), we get lots of KOA points. This stay is costing us only $15 bucks a night because we used our points for a discount.

Murphy decided to pop in again as we were hooking up at the KOA.  I came inside and Catherine informed me that the Sat dish did not have power.  I checked it out and realized the outlet had no power.  The outlets by the bed were working but not the ones in the back of the coach.  I found the GFI fuse and reset it but when I pushed the test button it would not kick off.  Hmmmm.  I tried the TV.. Nope.  Uh oh.. looks like the outlets connected to the inverter are not working.
I flipped the 12v button off and then on again..
Ta Da.... every thing came back on. It bothers me that I don't know why that worked,  but it worked.

We did manage about a 10 degree improvement in the temp.  Las Cruces 106, ABQ 96.  Tomorrow will be about 96 again, but the weekend looks to be in the low 90's.

We will be in Duke City until Monday...

  3. Please keep Murphy in the southwest until this fall. Hand him off to your nearest neighbor.

  4. That Murphy is one unwelcome guest! On the bright side, cashing in your points to bring your KOA fee down to $15/night is a nice treat.

  5. Good grief. Must seem like one thing after another. Hope the lights fix is as easy as the inverter. But temps even 90 are WAY too hot for me. When are you heading for cool? Or at least coolER?

    1. From here to Colorado but 90's is good with us. As long as we stay out of triple digits and cool down at night.

  7. Not Murphy...Gremlins. If it was Murphy, it would have stayed broken... ;c)

I like how you were prepared with an extra set of lights. Now that was a way to defeat Murphy!
