Kolob Canyon, Grand Canyon North Rim

Sunday, we drove to the north part of Zion to  Kolob Canyons.  It is a very nice drive and a good place to get away from the crowds at Zion.  We really enjoyed our visit.  Next time, we will do it in the fall and not over a weekend. Monday morning, we packed up and headed for Jacob Lake, AZ to visit the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. We are at Kaibab camper village.
We got here early and just spent some time relaxing, and doing laundry. It is a nice location-very cool. However, the campground has an issue with low voltage.  The surge protector kicked the power off a couple of times. I had take off the surge protector while we went to the north rim to make sure Grace would have AC. I hate doing that, but if the coach gets damaged it can be fixed- Grace- not so much. Fortunately, it has been pretty cool here.  If you don't mind boondocking, there is a National forest campground nearby that is probably a better option.
The bison herd greeted us as we entered the park :)

We did the scenic drive and a couple of walks- no hikes this time.  We had lunch at the Lodge- very good food.

It was a great day.  I really like the North Rim- not as many people- just as beautiful.

Today, we move on to Page, AZ and Lake Powell- back to the heat :).

  2. We want to visit the North Rim exactly because of lesser crowds. The South Rim is getting too crowded for our liking.

  6. The north rim is my favorite. Really beautiful pictures you took. You guys are really hitting the highlights. I just hate low voltage issues. If I pay for electric, I expect to be able to use it. It's why I won't go back to Sebastian Inlet even though I love it. Too much worry about the appliances.
