Idaho Springs, friends arrive.

We hung around the campground most of the morning.  They have some sites that pull forward and have a beautiful front window view of the mountains.  This is the KOA in Central City, Co.
About 10:30 we decided to head in to Central City to see what it was all about.  Somehow, we ended up in Idaho springs.  We were not lost.  I just wanted to quickly check out the fueling stops as we will need to fill up with diesel when we leave here. We found a couple of places that should work.  Although, we will need to wait to hook up the car. We spotted a safeway- decided to get groceries.
Then it was time for lunch.  We parked in front of this waterfall-very scenic parking lot.
I spotted a brew pub- "Tommyknocker"We checked out the menu and decided it looked good.
It was very good.  I had a lamb burger and Catherine had a veggie burger with chipotle sauce.  The beer was also excellent.  I had a butt head bock and Catherine had an oatmeal stout.
We shopped around a little to walk off lunch.  Idaho Springs is a cute little town.  We had just started driving back to check out Central City when we got a text  "you have neighbors".  Our friends from Kansas and Missouri had arrived-already! Needless to say, we spent the rest of the afternoon visiting.

I am not sure how much posting will get done over the next couple of weeks. But, I am sure there will be a lot of fun-Six women, Four RV's, Three dogs and lots of places to see.

  1. Isn't Idaho Springs a cute town? We stopped there for lunch at a deli on our way to RMNP in 2012. Brainard Lake, north of Central City on the Peak to Peak Highway was a really nice spot. Thanks for helping me relive some previous summer memories, and enjoy!

  2. WOW you are having your own mini-rally. Sounds like a fun day in Idaho Springs even if you didn't make it YET to Center City. When I saw the title I thought you'd moved on to Idaho. :-)
