Saturday, we decided just to drive over to Durango do a little shopping and get some lunch. It is a fun town with lots of restaurants and shops. I managed to find some hiking sandals on sale. Good deal!
Sunday, we went to Mesa Verde National Park.
The tours were well done and it was wonderful to get a glimpse into how the Native Americans lived here 800 years ago. Sunday night, the group surprised me with an early birthday cake and some nice gifts for serving as "wagon masters." We really enjoyed traveling with this group of friends.
This morning we fixed them breakfast and they moved on heading home to Kansas/Missouri. It was sad to see them leaving without us.
We are staying in Cortez a couple of days and then we will head to New Mexico, Texas and then back to Florida.
The plan was to rest up a little bit here. This morning I washed the coach and Catherine did six loads of laundry. We plan to work on the rest thing this afternoon :).
Hope you finally got to that "rest" thing :) Coach washing and laundry don't really qualify :)
ReplyDeleteSo, did you ever get any rest? When do you plan on getting back here? We're going to be here another week or two.
ReplyDeleteWe will probably be back around the 24th
Delete5 bucks per person? Scratch Four Corners off my bucket list! :c)
ReplyDeleteMesa Verde is so interesting. We really liked the Cortez area when we were there this spring. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteSo great when friends can travel together and have a terrific time .....
ReplyDelete"WAGON MASTERS" you must have been good at carrying out your responsibilities !!! Rest up and enjoy some down time before you set out on the last leg of your trip ..... Sure enjoy your photos !!!
Sorry to hear about the 4 Corners changes. I'll be skipping the long lines as well. It used to be a great place to buy Native American jewelry but I guess not so much now that they've instituted the toll. Love my National Parks. I don't know how they do things so well on their budget. Mesa Verde is a favorite of mine. 6 loads of laundry! Wow. I don't even own that many clothes any more. What a great trip you had.
ReplyDeleteThat's an impressive bronze of a cliff dweller.
