We spent Tuesday and Wednesday helping our friends, who live west of town, with some chores. They have a beautiful place, but the large property takes quite a bit of effort to maintain. Thursday we took our nephew, Robert, to Natural Bridge Caverns.
I had never been there and it had been several years since Catherine or Robert had been. It was very impressive. It is a commercial operation. It has a different feel than a state or national park. However, these caverns were not discovered until 1960. So, they are very well preserved. There is very little damage from humans throughout the caves. The heavy rain from last weekend was
still making it's way through the rock. Many of the formations glistened with water, and we got dripped on, quite a bit. It was a good tour and we enjoyed the time with our nephew.
Friday, we got caught up with chores of our own and then joined Catherine's family for dinner. We celebrated her brother-in-law's birthday and had a nice evening.
Yesterday, Catherine's mom joined us for a trip to the Farmer's market and a little shopping. Today, we are moving to the hill country for a while. See you down the road.
Beautiful caverns...did not know about them.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the hill country. The weather should be nice there this time of year.
Amazing there are still caverns to discover. 1960 doesn't seem all that long ago to me. Hmmmmmm I guess that says something. I'm ready for some looks at the Hill country.
