We hooked up early this morning and headed back to San Antonio. We need to get our step fixed and we have been having an AC power issue. The power just shuts down. We first thought it was the inverter but now it seems it may be the surge protector- not sure if it is malfunctioning- or if we were actually getting surges at the post. There is no indication of a problem on the surge protector. It just shuts down. It will run for several hours or even a couple of days but then shuts down. It starts back up again, but twice it "short cycled" for like an hour before it came on and stayed on. We have been in San Antonio about 2.5 hours and no issues with the power so far. We will see how it goes.
The step turned out to be a fuse- ( I misread the diagram and was checking the wrong one). However, it keeps blowing the fuses which would indicate that we have a short somewhere. The good news is that it went out in the up position last time, so we didn't have any travel issues. Lazydays has agreed to take care of both issues since we reported within our 30 - day window.
We will be calling Ironhorse first thing in the morning to get in this week.
We have some cooler weather only in the 90's and getting down in to the 60's at night- yeah!
Had same problem couple of months ago. Problem was with voltage drop. Campground full and temps in the 90's. Dropped as low as 97 volts on one of the legs. Our surge protector would cut the power off until the voltage went back up again. Drove me nuts till I figured it out.
ReplyDeleteWe have been having the same problem here at Huntington. Full campground, low volts and the surge protector does what it is supposed to do. They replaced a bad plug and that helped some, but we still have low volts;o(( It sometimes takes our system time to reset and say the AC is acceptable after shutting down.
ReplyDeleteI think Dave O is correct. We found a wide variety of voltage at different campgrounds and have run into the same issues that you've had. Your surge protector is doing its job. Without it, just think of the damage that could occur with your air conditioners.
ReplyDeleteWe have never had the issue before but my dad says it will happen out in the country where your lines are really long. The surge protector on this new coach must be more sensitive.
DeleteMe 4! Low voltage due to too many users, hot weather and inadequate supply. Love those surge protectors.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are finding the things needing to be fixed within the 30 days.
Yep - when we were in PA (out in the country!), we were at the end of the line and had some problems off and on too! Not what you need when the temps are hot. Glad you are cooling off a bit.
ReplyDeleteWe have had the same kind of issues, we bought a voltage meter that can stay plugged in all the time. We keep a constant eye on it. Our surge protector will help if we have a surge problem but it does not help us with low voltage. We ended up buying a voltage regulator that helps us if we get into those conditions.
ReplyDeleteWe will be here until next Monday, We would love to get together for dinner. We are open any night. Let us know where and when and we can meet you.
