Witte Museum, Rainy Drive
It rained most of the day yesterday, so, we decided to take in the Witte Museum. The Witte is located at the entrance to Brackenridge Park, which is home to the San Antonio Zoo. The Witte gets a lot of good exhibits.
Currently, they have an exhibit on Darwin. It focuses on his travels aboard the HMS Beagle. He lived for 5 years with two other men in a 10 x 11 room, which also functioned as the ship's library. That makes the rv seem downright roomy :). It is a really good exhibit. There is a lot of historical info that is well presented for adults. There are also interactive displays on natural selection and classification of plants and animals for the younger visitors - (of course I played with all of them). We were glad to get to this exhibition because we missed it in St. Louis last year.
We had dinner with Catherine's family and celebrated her Dad's birthday. It was a nice family evening. This morning the rain was still drizzling but we decided to move on to the hill country. We arrived at Peach County RV park just after 11 AM. It is a nice park. Our spot is OK- not great. They have a rally coming in next week and it is spring break. All the huge long pull through sites are booked up. We are in a back in with a little tree mashed up against us. Still, we are warm, level, out of the rain, and the satellite dish is locked on, which is all that matters. See you down the road....

At least you have secured a hiding place for spring break. :)
ReplyDeleteI guess it's hard to avoid spring break anywhere :)
ReplyDeleteSatellite dish lock on is our number one site requirement. Okay, after full hook ups, level concrete pad, hot tub and a butler with cold refreshments.
ReplyDeleteBut we're not too picky... ;c)
