Pacific War Museum Part 2

Severe storms were predicted for yesterday afternoon.  We headed out fairly early to finish up the Pacific War Museum.  It is really a fantastic museum.  There is quite an extensive history of China & Japan with details on the conflicts between the two countries that led to war.

As you move through the museum, it takes you from Pearl Harbor to the Japanese Surrender, on the Missouri.  Each major battle is presented, in quite a bit of detail, with a combination of audio presentation, wall panels , interactive displays and personal stories.
They also have very good displays of equipment, and artillery. The Japanese "Rex" float plane is one of only three in the world.  In addition, they have special displays: The Solomon Brothers; War Propaganda; Rationing; Texas;  Internment Camps and several more.  It is hard to explain how incredibly detailed it is.  It took us 6 full hours just to go through the Bush Gallery - It is a must see when in this area but give yourselves plenty of time.

We had a late lunch at the Fredericksburg Brewing Co.- very good food and good beer.  The promised storms missed us until about 8:30 PM .  They lasted until about 3 AM this morning.  We had heavy rain, a little hail, wind and lots of thunder.  Have I mentioned Grace hates thunder?  Not much sleep in this house last night.  But today is clear and beautiful - perfect for a nice nap :)  See you down the road....

  1. Nice info on the museum.

We don't enjoy severe weather in our RV either. Enjoy your nap.

  2. Yuck on the bad weather - storms and I just don't mix well! Museum sounds very interesting! Isn't it great that you can whittle away your time as you please and not feel rushed when you find something you like?!

  5. Is there any chance that instead of Solomon brothers you might have meant Sullivan brothers?

  6. How I'd love to take my 91 year old father to the museum. He fought in the Pacific in WWII and I know he'd enjoy it.
    Thanks for the information.

Give Grace a pat for me. Tell her I understand. Storms sometimes scare me too especially if they rock the coach.
