Warhol at the Dali

One of the things we have been wanting to check out since we returned to the Tampa area is the new Dali Museum.

We visited the old location and viewed the extensive collection of Dali works, when we lived here before.  However in 2011, this new location opened.  It is a very cool building.  It looks out over the water.  The glass is 18 inches thick and meets hurricane standards.

There is a nice garden outside with tables for dining or having a drink.  The focal point of the garden is this sculpture of the Dali mustache- fun.

Thursday evenings, admission is half price.  So, we decided to check out the new building and the Warhol special exhibit.
They did not charge extra for an audio tour.  They provided headphones and the tour can be played on your smart phone - cool.  The exhibit was good - different from the exhibit we saw a couple of years ago in San Antonio.  This one focused more on Warhol's photographic works.
We took a little time to view the Dali works again.  It is really an impressive collection.
We enjoyed the evening out and now we are back to gathering our treasures and packing up the rig.

  1. Love the moustache! We tried to go to the Dali museum years ago, but spent a lot of time trying to find it (before GPS I guess). When we finally found it, it was closed that day! I guess we need to try again.

  2. They really put some thought into the decorations around the museum. That melting bench was too funny!

  3. Love the mustache. What a fun idea. I don't suppose they let you sit on it. HA! Dali and Warhol now there is a combination.

  5. I liked the mustache but most art mystifies me as to why it's considered art!
