Lots of Rain, Robert Indiana: Beyond the LOVE

We had quite the thunderstorm last night and the little creek just outside the campground flooded.  We figured out that this is the fourth time we have been here when there has been enough rain to flood the creek.  Given the drought of the past several years, we think San Antonio should give us some kind of rainmaker subsidy to visit more often.

Today we joined Catherine's mom and sister for a day out at the McNay art museum.
We always enjoy the special exhibits at the McNay. This one is the works of Robert Indiana- the love guy. He was born Robert Clark in Indiana and changed his name  It was a very good exhibit.  I was not very familiar with his work  other than the LOVE pieces.

He did lots of wonderful, graphic, colorful pieces filled with strong social commentary.  We really enjoyed the exhibit and getting to learn more about this uniquely american artist.  He also did set design and costume design.
The McNay had a very good display of set and costume designs done by Indiana, for a Santa Fe Opera production of Virgil Thomson's "The Mother of us all" about the life of Susan B. Anthony.
It was a little too cool and rainy to enjoy much of the sculpture garden this time.  We looked at a few more exhibits and then had a nice lunch.
We really enjoyed the day at the McNay.  This was another really good exhibit.  I guess that is why they are celebrating 60 years.

When arrived back a the campground this afternoon,
we had a box of parts from Tiffin waiting. The mobile repair guy will be back in the morning to give those a try.  Hopefully one of those will turn out to be the solution to our problem

This rainy afternoon - a nap is in order :)

  1. Keeping our fingers crossed that the magic part you need is in that box. With my luck, it would be the one little piece they didn't send. ;c)

Between you and Sherry, I think you could solve all the world's drought problems!

  2. Maybe you could make a deal with California and spend some time out there this summer. They could really use the rain :)

  3. I'm seeing a nice traveling gig as rain makers for you two on the road out west. Just don't come to the east coast PLEASE! Hope the part you need is in the mix and you are fixed up in a jiffy.

  4. Surely, the right part will be in that box to get all the lights back on and get you all fixed up.
