We have the first day of travel under our belts. Yesterday, we took a load to the rig and turned on the fridge. Today, we loaded up what we thought was the last little bit. However, we loaded and loaded and loaded.
We said good-bye to our neighbors and left for the storage facility. We got stuff put in the rig and then went to a near by parking lot to hook up.
That is when Murphy made an appearance. When I pulled the lever for the drive shaft disconnect on the truck, it did not feel right. Sure enough when I told Catherine to move forward, the truck wheels did not roll.
Rats! I had the truck serviced last week and I asked the guys to check out the disconnect and lube it. When I checked out, the guys were at lunch. So, I did not ask about it. I crawled under the truck and it just appeared to be stuck. ( I think the guys forgot) So I sprayed it with silicone, and Catherine pulled the lever. We got it disengaged- Yea!
We landed at Silver River state park about 1:30. After spraying the disconnect mechanism some more, it engaged first try. Whew!
We got into our spot and locked on to Satellite. We are going to paddle the river tomorrow and get the rig all organized. We will take off Wednesday to Pensacola. That will be a more PDD worthy trip :).
Silver River, one of my very favorite places and paddles. I thought since they bought Silver Springs, they had changed the campground name. Glad you and your handy dandy silicone (don't you just love it) were up to the task. Safe travels but PDD??? REALLY???
ReplyDeleteI have to say, I'm just loving my new automatic satellite dish. Why did I ever wait so long to get one? Safe travels, friends.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Sherry. PDD, really?
ReplyDeleteThat's a good reminder we may need to lube our drive-shaft disconnect before we leave here.
Enjoy Silver River!
Silver River is our FAVORITE Paddle!! Can't wait to see what you see;o)
ReplyDeleteA PDD driving day? I'm so proud of you!!! :cD
ReplyDeleteGlad you fixed your driveshaft disconnect, the old if you want something done right, well, you know the rest...

ReplyDeleteHave fun kayaking Silver Springs.
I love kayaking and I'm going to have to put Silver Springs on my list. Congratulations on finding (and fixing) your driveshaft issue.
ReplyDeleteHappy to see you on the road again.
