So, we were excited to visit again. As we drove into the village, we spotted these ladies trimming trees in someone's yard. That is my kind of yard crew. I wonder what they charge?
By the time we got into the village, we were pretty hungry - so much for investigating new places to eat. We went with a place we tried last time and really liked, Local Flavor Cafe.
The food did not disappoint. I had a filet and Catherine had chicken smothered in artichokes and mushrooms. They were both good and we managed to save enough to have another meal. Since we showed such restraint on our main dishes, we decided to share a dessert. :)
Catherine chose "chocolate decadence." It was made with bittersweet chocolate and topped with whipped cream. It was not super sweet so I liked it, even though chocolate is not usually my favorite.
No leftovers this time...
This weekend is the VW Festival here in Eureka Springs. There are a couple of early arrivals camped here in the campground.
Catherine's family camped in a red pop up, just like this one, when she was a kid. Although, they did not have an air-conditioner hanging out the driver's window :). She got a kick out of seeing one again. They are having a parade down the main street on Saturday afternoon. It should be fun.
Today, we plan to explore the surrounding area - Blue Springs and Beaver Lake. It is supposed to be a bit cooler.
For all of you in Irene's path, our thoughts are with you. We lived in Florida 14 years and know the anxiety that being "in the cone" causes. Baton down those hatches and take cover!
See you down the road...
Well, you two seemed to have recovered and are really enjoying yourselves.
ReplyDeleteLoved the landscape crew!!
Think we lucked out and Irene decided not to stop and she'll just wave on her way by :o))))
Sounds like a place I need to check out. I've heard others say they really liked it.
ReplyDeleteBut someone who doesn't like chocolate all that much?? I had no idea that was even possible. Sounds like you might need a doctor. :-)
Queen of the Sweet Tooth here.
That looks like a very neat place to land for a few days.
ReplyDeleteRather a clever name for a restaurant if you're looking for a little local flavor :) Bet it has brought them many a tourist.
Enjoy!
Hatches are battened. Wish we were inland where you are right now, sounds like a place we could enjoy too.
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice to be eating in a great place like you found instead of watching the Weather Channel.
Sounds like a nice place to check out some time. We once had a VW Bus camper. No air conditioner but we were younger and it was fun. We're at our house now about 100 miles inland so we'll be ok. Safe travels.

Love seeing the retro RVs that people camp in. Chocolate Decadence sounds downright YUM-MY!
