Bever Dam

We headed out yesterday to the local lake, Beaver Lake.  I wanted to check out the COE campgrounds around the lake.  I am getting tired of RV parks. However, I really want 50 amps when it is this hot.  Of course, I looked at the map and jumped in the car - without it.  I took a wrong turn but I remembered the road we were on hooked up somewhere with the road where we wanted to be. So, we just kept driving.  We came to a sign with a cable across the road -11' 7" clearance ahead (good thing we were not in the MH).  Then we came to this very cool bridge.

And, just across the bridge  ---this sign.
Beaver is a very cute but very small town. It seemed to consist of a general store and a post office.

Some folks who know what to do when their boat does not float any longer.  The flowers were beautiful and Catherine wondered "Did they paint the house to match the boat or the boat to match the house?".
We finally made it to Beaver Dam.  There were campsites by the River - 50 Amp no less and a nice park on the lake.  Catherine liked the lake because you were right on the water.  I kind of liked the river.  We watched some folks fish in the river for a while and then made our way back to town for lunch.  We stopped at Harmon Spring, which is supposed to be the source of water for one of Eureka Spring's greatest "healings"- a girl who was blind for seven years. They have all the little springs nicely decorated with flowers but are all fenced off to keep people out of the "healing waters."

We asked Mr. Humpty Dumpty, if he knew of a good place to eat.  He was mum.  We stopped in at the Mud Street Cafe - known for Coffee, breakfast and dessert.  Lunch was good- not as good as Local Flavor.
We made a stop at Keels Creek Winery on the way back to the RV parkWe had stopped there on our previous trip and really liked a couple of their wines.  We tasted several and bought 3 bottles.  Home for a nap and a quiet evening in the park.
See you down the road....

  1. Some of my best memories are at Beaver Lake camping and fishing with parents. It is a beautiful area. Have fun, and cooler weather will be here shortly.

  4. The nerve of Humpty Dumpty being so rude to you!

Looks like you've found a great place to chill out. But then, that's what RV life is all about. ;c)
