Rain Brings more Wild West Texas.

Local lore says that when the desert sage blooms- it is going to rain.  We woke up Thursday morning, and  these purple flowers were all over this desert sage.  (You may have to click on the pic to see the flowers.)  Thursday night we got 2.1 inches of rain followed by another .35 inches on Friday night.  Maybe the sage knows...

We drove out to the ranch and farm to check on how much rain they received.  As we pulled back in to the driveway, it seemed to be moving.....  It was clear that a huge "hatch" had occurred

Ants.. Ants with big wings.  They did not pay me any mind, while I took pictures.  They were intent on either breeding or battling.  We could not tell which.  There were thousands of them.  I guess they were just waiting for some rain.

Then we spotted this giant moth stuck to the edge of the house.  It was easily bigger than my hand.

Maybe it was the rain or maybe it was just the full moon.  It was beautiful Friday night.
We hit the road yesterday (Saturday morning).  We drove to Wichita Falls.  It is a little longer drive than we like, but we are due in Branson for our RVW rally on Tuesday. We are at Wichita Falls RV park.  It is a good overnight stop with long pull through sites.  We plan to stop on the east side of Tulsa tonight.  Then short travel days Monday and Tues to Carthage, MO and on to Branson.

We will be in Branson until Aug 23.

That moon and windmill picture is really neat. I wish I could take pictures like that, but moonrise is past my bedtime... ;c)
