Bugs Everywhere.....

This morning we reattached the awning arm - my fix worked like a charm :).  We did a little house cleaning and tortured Grace with a bath and nail trim.   Then we headed out to the VW show and parade.
The first car Catherine remembers her family having was a '59 beetle - black.  We searched one out and found it right off the bat. At least, I think this one used to be black. They traded it for a '70 type II camper - red.
We found a green '71.  Catherine used to sleep in that little hammock over the driver and passenger seats.  Her sister slept in the pop up and her parents on the fold-out bed.  There was a sink/fridge combo where that picnic basket is sitting.

Here is a red one.  The small door behind Catherine and in front of the back window is the closet :).  She had a great time walking down memory lane.
Then we went downtown for lunch at Local Flavor - again great food.  Then on to Basin Park to watch the parade with an ice cream cone - no huckleberry :( -  but great blackberry cobbler :).  Here come the cars. There were dune buggies, kit cars,

perfectly restored bugs,  baja bugs, hot rod bugs, things, perfectly restored campers,

and not restored at all campersThere were sedans, Karmann Ghia's,  Cabriolets even a Fox - but not one Rabbit.  Catherine was disappointed.  Her family had one of those too....
After the parade, a free bluegrass concert in Basin Park -  Eureka Spring's own "Mountain Sprout."  They were very good - of course. When you have a washboard, fiddle, banjo and a stand up base, how could it be bad?  What a great day!  We will be sorry to bid Eureka Springs farewell in the morning. But the road calls.
We enjoyed our stay in the city and at Wanderlust RV park.  Grace especially enjoyed it, since one of the staff, Happy, carries a jar of dog treats on his golf cart.  They have become fast friends. Tomorrow, we head for Petit Jean State Park.

 See you down the Road....

  1. What a great day! VW parade - what fun!! I have definitely put Eureka Springs on our list. Mmmmm ice cream - blackberry cobler sounds just fine to me.

We loved Petit Jean when we were there in the early spring, except for the tornado evacuations. Be sure to take in the brunch!
Some great hikes there too. Can't wait to hear about your time there.
