Sunrise at Will Rogers Downs

It is a beautiful morning here  at Will Rogers Downs and  Cherokee Casino.  There are lots of Casinos in Oklahoma and many have RV parking.  This racetrack and casino has a KOA.  It is a nice level park with long pull through sites- perfect for an overnight stop.  We got in about 3:30 yesterday.  We made a stop at camping world in Oklahoma City for a new awning strap (stay tuned for the story on how I manage to unfurl the awning, with no strap, in a future post) a new water filter and the "good"  potty stuff. ( FYI- Not all "potty stuff" is created equal in 100 degree temps -nuff said).  We ran in to our friends Margaret and Evelyn from our RVW group at the camping world.  They live in Oklahoma City and are hoping to make it to the rally in Branson.

It is not racing season so it is fairly quiet at the campground  We went over to the casino for dinner.  Food was good and the price was even better.  We managed to leave without a casino donation so it was really a good price.
Grace & Catherine enjoying the cool morning
It is a nice cool morning.  It would be great if it were racing season, because we are camped right on the home turn and we could watch the morning workouts.  It does not seem that many horses & trainers are around. The next racing season starts sometime in the fall.  This is a great place to stay, if you are a horse racing fan.  There are RV sites all the way down the home stretch- pretty cool.....

With our Campground fee, we get a 50% discount on the breakfast buffet-all you can eat for $4.99. We will do some exercise this morning and then hit the buffet. (life is all about balance :) We have a short drive this morning to Carthage and then another short one to Branson on Tuesday.  We will enjoy a nice relaxed morning.

See you down the road....

  1. Sounds wonderful and relaxing ... only thing better would have been you put a dollar in at the casino and won a million!

  3. I have never stayed at a casino...yet, but hear that they are good bargains. The breakfast sure sounds like a deal.

I admire your willpower to stay out of the casino, I'd have had to put my one quarter in a one armed bandit, just in case it was my lucky day. I sure am a high roller. :c)

  4. We'll have to try a casino one of these days too. Everyone seems to love them and the food always seems to be plentiful and cheap! My kind of place!

As for "potty" stuff in 100 degree heat, I found the most important thing is to NOT have a fantastic fan running ANYWHERE when you flush!!! Trust me on that one :)

  5. Hi,

How have you all been? Looks like you have been on the go.

While in Branson, Checkout BRUELE at the RFDTV.
My inlaws have a condo in Branson and they sent me the DVD of the show.

It is like River Dance but BRUELE SIOUX culture and story.

Hope the wind is always at your back. It saves on fuel.

    You are missed at Elsevier.

  7. So what IS the good potty stuff so I can buy it next time.

I've never tried a casino but you've convinced me.

Glad to hear you have two short days. Be safe!

  8. Looks like you guys are on a bit more northern track than we are right now. We're in the very SW corner of Arkansas. But if your travels bring you a bit further south, maybe we can meet in the middle.
