We are getting settled in here in West Texas despite record breaking temps. It is highly unusual for it to be this hot in June. We are sucking it up and it should get a bit better next week. We adjusted our position to be more in the shade and ordered a 15' extension cord for the rig to get even more shaded at least for the first 1/2 of the day. That should come in today.
We have been watching a family of resident deer come to get water and forage for food in the yard in the afternoon. Times are tough for the deer, with this drought. I never seem to be in the vicinity of my camera, when we see them. I will have to work on getting a picture in the next few days. However, we did get some good wildlife activity right at our rig.
I am sure that I have seen hundreds of dung beetles in my day, but I don't think I have ever taken the time to watch one. They are kind of fascinating. As fellow blogger Syl says, "find beauty in the ordinary".
In addition, we got this guy crawling over our door mat. Just in case you did not believe that "Everything is bigger in Texas" :) We did not invite him in.
See you down the road.....
That spider would have had my hair standing on end! I don't do spiders well. :(
ReplyDeleteOK, we are ready for some cute and cuddly creatures ;o))
ReplyDeleteStay Cool.......
The beauty of the ordinary spider is that they eat bugs. Otherwise...not so pretty.

That is a big spider. I think I would be spraying all around my rig and sleeping with one eye open.
ReplyDeleteokay so you are not working for the Texas tourism bureau! That sure would make a mess on the bottom of my shoe. How do y'all kill those spiders? With a six shooter :o

"I am sure that I have seen hundreds of dung beetles in my day, but I don't think I have ever taken the time to watch one." WELCOME to the world of fulltiming! :)
ReplyDeleteI found you blog from a comment you left on mine - and thought "what the heck are they doing in west Texas in the summertime??? I'll have to catch up when I have time - but now a hot spring is calling my name.
Safe travels!
Well I wonder what I did wrong now? I was typing away posting this comment in my usual verbose way and it just up and disappeared. So if you get two of them, delete your least favorite!
ReplyDeleteJust saying that I love that fulltiming means time to watch Dung Beetles. :-)
And that I didn't realize hot was ususual for West Texas. We thought we were going to dry up from the heat in the Panhandle in May.
