It is Official, We Are Texans Again.. and Some Lessons Learned

On Sunday morning, we were scheduled for a breakfast of huevos rancheros.  When we joined our friends over at "the big house",  they told us that momma deer had her baby in the night.  They saw her bringing it, to bed down in the brush on the North side of the
house.  We missed it, but hope to have a fawn sighting soon.
We started this week with the goal of getting our registration and drivers license paperwork completed.  First lesson- call before you go to the office- to ensure you will have everything you will need. We had to make numerous trips.  We also needed to get our rig weighed.  Second lesson- when entering a narrow scale, have someone stand outside and direct.  Yes, after 31/2 years we have our first boo boo:(  It is not too bad and a local body guy stabilized it so we can get it fixed at our leisure.  However, we love our girl and it hurts our hearts to see her bruised.
We completed registration and licenses today.  We are Texans again.  We decided to have some salsa and chips after a long day.  Third lesson- If you are going to store your spices vertically, make sure to close the lids tightly.  It has been a bumpy start to the third week of full timing.  However,we are not deterred.  We love our rig and still believe we will love this lifestyle.  See you down the road...

  1. Congrats on being Texans again....I guess. I've heard that once a Texan always a Texan but not being a Texan I don't really understand it. Of course, I didn't understand Texas even when I was there. :-)

Sorry to hear about the boo boo. It happens to all of us but it is definitely tramatic. More for us than for the girls I think. I hope your boo boo wasn't a Texas sized one. I've heard everything is bigger in Texas.

But don't you just LOVE being retired???
Have you gotten to the point where you don't know exactly what day of the week it is? Now that is really FINE in Texas or anywhere! :-)

  2. Ouch! Sorry about the boo boo. They say it's just a matter of when, not if. You've managed to avoid it much longer than most, I think :)

Congrats on being Texans once again. We just made a deposit to become Texan for the winter this year :)
