It is always something...

Yesterday, Larry, the mobile guy came to look at our generator coolant leak.  As I suspected, he was not able to get to the problem area. I stopped by the local repair place and he can't get to it until Friday.  He also said that if it happens to be the radiator, rather than just a hose clamp, it would take several days to get one.  It only drips on very cold nights, and does not leak when the generator is running.  So, we will wait until we get to San Antonio to deal with it. In the meantime..

I will just get some coolant to replenish what has dripped out.
In other mechanical news, the tire pressure light started flashing on the truck.  I got that fixed yesterday (new sensor) and was informed that I need new front brakes :(  I was not really surprised.
I was complaining to my dad about stuff always being broken and he just laughed at me.  My brother broke a belt on the cotton picker yesterday, it caught on fire and ruined some sensors.  Now, they are shut down, with cotton in the field, until the parts come in.  That stuff happens every day on the farm.  If you worry about it all the time, it will make you crazy.

Today, we will get the brakes fixed and be happy that our mechanical issues are relatively minor.

  1. Yup. It is what it is. You just fix it and move on. Worrying does not help :)

  2. That Murphy guy sure gets around. Wish there was some way to bribe him to stay away.

I'm still holding out that it's a loose hose clamp, but the Onan generators are known to have a tendency to crack the plastic coolant tank. I think that would make it leak all the time, instead of just when it's cold. That still sounds like a loose clamp. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

    1. It is not the tank, I can see that. That whole area is dry. The only hose we can't see is the one exiting the radiator. My dad is with you he says it is just a loose clamp.

  3. Yeah, sometimes you just have to deal with stuff. Hopefully the generator leak won't be too expensive.

    I'd go with Paul's suggestion....he's the man!

  4. Worrying about things you cannot control is really a losing battle. Save that energy for the fun stuff!! Deal with it and move on...just sorry it has happened;o(

  5. I know we had these sorts of things before being on the road and maybe they weren't so noticeable because we were so stressed and busy anyway. But they do seem to loom larger these days. But as you say, stuff happens and there are a lot worse things than mechanical problems. You have a good attitude me thinks.

  6. We have some little annoying issues to fix too. Hopefully once you (and we) get these things fixed we will have a long spell of no needed repairs!

  7. Things just happen. Sure hope that generator problem is just a loose tank. At least you should be good for tires on the front now for a few years.
