We ended our work commitment with Habitat yesterday. On the right is the house we framed. Yesterday, we put the trusses up, but I forgot to get a picture. We had some volunteers from a local Budweiser distributing company and they were able to help the guys get them up pretty quickly. Catherine and I spent the morning cleaning out the house that we sheet rocked last week. It has now been taped and textured and is ready for painting. In the afternoon we worked on installing hurricane anchors, on each one of the newly installed trusses.
Others in the group worked on getting the interior walls finished on the house (right) that I helped shingle Wednesday and Thursday. It is really great to see the progress we made on all four of these houses. We are finished with our commitment but we will probably work a few more days in the next couple of weeks. We really liked the people that we worked with and really feel good about the work we did. Habitat is a great organization with a good mission to provide affordable housing to people.
Friday night, was the big game between Mayfield (my nephew's team) and Las Cruces high school.
We started the evening with a huge tailgate party. On the left is my brother working the grill and buffet line. They had lots of food and it was really good. There were thousands of people in the parking lot. Several of them brought RV's. Many people had their cars decorated.
It was pretty crazy for high school football. At the half, the score was 16 to 13-Las Cruces. My nephew was playing fullback some and blocked for the Mayfield touchdown. However, they could not stop the L.C. running game. Las Cruces took over the second half and Mayfield went down 36 to 13- bummer.
We got home just in time yesterday to watch A&M upset Alabama. Heyduke - how bout them Aggies?
Today, we are going to hang around the rig and recoup a bit, clean house and watch some football.
See you down the road...
Yeah baybee, how about those Aggies! Really miss the tailgating involved with football glad you got to partake in one...
