Yesterday, we packed up and headed of to Iron horse to get our TX state inspection. I also wanted to get the fuel and air filters changed. They had never been changed and even though the mileage did not warrant it, they have been in 18 months and I felt they should be changed. We dropped the rig off about 8:00 am. and went over to Catherine's parents. Grace enjoyed hanging out with Sophie.
We met our friends Barbara and Jan for lunch at Chuy's (forgot a picture). We had a great visit and great meal.
We picked up the rig about 2:00. When I got the bill, I almost had a heart attack. The owner Daryl came out and told me that it took them an extra 2 hours to change the air filter because the mounting bracket had been installed upside down. They had to remove the whole bracket and reinstall it correctly in order to access the filter. He told me to submit the bill to Tiffin and he felt confident they would pick up the extra labor. He said he has known Bob Tiffin for 30 years and will be happy to speak to him about the issue if necessary. So we will be submitting the bill - today. I was going to have the filters changed at Lazydays but I wanted to give Ironhorse the business. I am actually glad I did because it is good to know Ironhorse has a relationship with Tiffin and will help with any warranty issues we may have. Daryl gave us the thumbs up on the new coach!
After picking up the rig, we went to the truck stop to get her weighed. Catherine put her on the scale dead center. That was good but she had to get a spoon to hit the call button :).
With weight certificate and state inspection in hand, we headed back to the campground.
Today we will spend some time with Catherine's parents and then get ready to head back to home base for a while. See you down the road....
That's great that the owner of Ironhorse has a long-standing relationship with Tiffin and offered to step in for you if necessary. Good call on giving your business to them.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet picture of Grace and Sophie!
From what I've heard about Tiffin, you shouldn't have any problems getting reimbursed - good luck, anyway.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you are getting the 'business' out of the way!! Soon you will be able to get to the 'fun' stuff:o))
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely an oft repeated phrase about Tiffin that they really stand behind their coaches. It's for sure one of the reasons they are so popular and probably the only other company we would consider buying from. I'll be interested to hear how it all turns out. Sounds like you've gotten important things taken care of while having fun. That's the way to do it.
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice to have a great mechanic you can rely on to steer you in the right direction. Hope there is no issue with your Tiffin reimbursement.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear that Ironhorse has a good reputation. I have another full-timer friend that has used Texas RV Supply for a number of years, also a good reputation. Camping World--not so much.
ReplyDeleteVery smart to get the filters changed, especially the fuel filters. You don't know how long the fuel was sitting in the tank before you bought it.
ReplyDeleteDiesel fuel sitting for long time periods in hot weather actually can grow a type of alge in it. With fresh fuel put in it, it can wash the alge out of the tank and plug fuel filters. Not saying it happened to you but it is proper preventive maintenance.
Putting on new ones was a good thing, even if it was expen$ive.
Now did you get Phiona weighed before or after lunch? ;c)
