Well, we got our first travel day under our belts. We got a later start than we planned from Lazydays. Still, we made it 250 miles up the road. We stopped at"
A Stone's Throw" exit 225 on 1-10. Again $23, and you get a free beer on check in. He has added a dog run where you can let dogs off leash. When I went in the office, he said "Gee girl- you should have bought a big one :)" He remembered us from last time and knew we were trading for a new RV.
So, we traveled 250 miles, fueled up and got parked without incident-whew! We stopped at a Loves for fuel and just went to the regular pumps. With a toad, I think we are going to have to brave the truck lanes. We did OK, but we crowded the traffic lanes a bit.
So far- so good. See you down the road.....
Please brave the truck lanes! It's so much easier and the truckers really are nice to you. Just remember that the fuel goes in faster so stop about 8 gallons early to let the foam die down or you will have it splashing out.
ReplyDeleteWe may have to stop there on our way to the panhandle next month for a beer.

The guy could really use the business. He is so nice. He is an electrician by trade but needed another business because of the construction slow down in Florida.
DeleteThat's nice that the owner remembered you from your previous visit. Good customer service!
ReplyDeleteFree beer on check-in! Wow...that's fun!
ReplyDeleteNow that is Al's kind of campground! Glad to see you made it out of Lazy Days. Safe travels.
ReplyDeleteDo you stay there because it is such a nice campground or is it just for the free beer?
ReplyDeleteThe truck fuel lanes are no big deal, the nozzles are bigger and heavier, but they fuel fast. When you have filled the tank, just pull your MH up ahead in your lane so the truck behind you can start fueling while you go inside to pay. I wear disposable rubber gloves because the nozzles are usually dirty and believe it or not, I'm not fond on diesel smelling hands.
I still prefer the RV lanes at Flying J when I can find them. My fuel tank requires slow filling for the last 10 gallons or so, a known Freightliner problem caused by too straight of a fuel fill hose into the tank. The truck lanes make that last 10 gallons quite a task to get in. :c(
Thanks for the advice. It is easy on easy off and the owner is really nice. It is nothing special as a campground.
DeleteIt's always a relief to get that first travel day done with a brand new rig. Sounds like a nice RV Park with a friendly owner. Now you can relax and just drive that big rig!
ReplyDeleteWell alrighty then - we are headed to Cedar Key, FL in a bit so just may have to pay this place a visit. Dan wants to know if it is a free beer or a case?! ;-) lol
ReplyDeleteThe truck lanes are really much easier...access and pumping. Nothing to be afraid of :)
