Deming

We arrived in Deming, on Tuesday afternoon.  Yesterday, we went grocery shopping and bought some flowers to plant for my mom. One of the few things she still enjoys and can still do, is to tend her plants. She spends hours wandering around the yard watering and clipping off roses, which she places all over the house.  We are lucky that she does not wander away (at least not yet), as many dementia patients do.
We also took the truck into the shop.  The check engine light came on, while we were in Big Bend.  I checked the gas cap and it was loose. The light would not reset, until we took it in to have the code read. It looks like that was our only problem :)

Today, we need to wage war on some wasps  and some weeds and plant a few more flowers. We plan on spending a week to 10 days here with my folks.  See you down the road...

  1. Lucky parents to have willing and helpful children. You two are very good girls. :-)

Hope they didn't charge you the ridiculous high amount we got charged to have our code read when the check engine light went on. Glad the light signaled nothing worse. I really don't care for all the car electronics that force you into the dealer.

Not sure I even like automatic windows. I keep thinking. What if you were on that MN bridge and had your windows rolled up. How would you get them down to get out of the car and swim to the top. Yeah I know....making up worries.

  2. It's nice to have the ability to read codes in a vehicle, but a pain in the a** to have to go somewhere to have a check engine light reset. Gas caps seem to be a big offender.

Nice to see your mom happy and at peace.

  3. Doing a little bit of what she really enjoys is the best thing for her. Roses take a lot of work but are so beautiful.

  4. Luckily, most auto supply stores, like Autozone, will read those codes for you...free. Granted, they won't reset them for you but at least you have confirmation of what the error was.

  5. Isn't it nice that you are free to help family and friends! That's one of the best perks of this lifestyle!
