Back Home

West Texas Sunset
We took the rig in yesterday to get the fridge checked out.  He reset the power board and of course worked perfectly. We discussed the possible causes of our issues. After resetting the board, the repair guy was not that helpful.  He showed me how to reset the board and gave me the service manual info on the possible causes for the error code.   I have narrowed it down to three likely causes -  the thermistor,  the optical circuit board or  we had so much crammed in there, that the door was not sealing properly.  I had already ordered a new thermistor because it was freezing our food and that seemed to be the most likely culprit. I disconnected the old thermistor which puts the fridge in "manual" mode.  It has been operating for 18 hrs with no problem. I should have done that in the first place.  When we are closer to a repair place, we will try the new thermistor. If that does not work, a new circuit board will probably be in order.  In any case, we were back home by noon yesterday.

We watched the weather channel most of the afternoon.  Our hearts go out to those in the DFW area.  Those storms were incredible. Watching those big trailers being tossed in the air, was a vivid reminder to get out of the RV, when a storm threatens.
We watched the women's final-GO BEARS! :)  It was great to see RGIII there supporting the girls.
That is all the excitement from here. We are working on filling in our travel plans- and discussing some volunteer opportunities for August-October.  We will keep you posted.  See you down the road.....

  2. If you have to put in a new circuit board, buy a Dinosaur brand board, they are a much better made circuit board and have them for fridges, hot water heaters, furnaces of all brands. Costs a little bit more, but they are top quality.

  4. Congrats on understanding about your refrig. Boy do I hate to read manuals! Looking forward to hearing about your possible work camping. Are you finding them from the workamper news???

  5. Frozen lettuce...that's one thing I hated about the fridge in the Brave. Well that and the fact that it was so small.
Glad to hear that you weren't caught in those storms. I saw the video of the trailers being tossed about. Scary.

  6. Good news on the fridge board. Hopefully, there was a good reason for the reset and not just that the board was failing. In any event, a new board is a pretty easy fix for any RV tech.
