The park is located at the base of the Little Florida Mountains. It has a nice campground with water and electric sites. It is a beautiful area. However, it has been extremely dry this year. As a result, much of the plant life is suffering through the drought.
We did see some birds and reptiles. The birds were too fast for me but I did manage some picture of the reptiles...
I also learned that if you say "oh snake" while hiking, you can make Catherine jump about 10 feet in the air. She will tell you I jumped too. ( I say it was just because I almost stepped on the fella.) He stayed perfectly still while we took several pictures and did all that jumping. He was all about staying in the shade of the Yucca bush.
It was a fun start to the day. We finished with a visit to my mom's, a barbeque dinner and fireworks. Today, we will try to get in another hike and start some guest house cleaning.
See you down the road....
Lucky Ducks! I SO want to find snakes as we hike. Maxine, not so much! I am also too slow with the camera to get bird pictures. Probably because I am looking at the ground for snakes.
ReplyDeleteThat is some big snake! Just looking at it in the picture made me jump ten feet in the air!
ReplyDeleteAnd now you've been to 10 states! I love keeping track of you on your blog. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteGreat picture of you two. Mountains named Florida in Texas?? Nice tail on your reptile.
ReplyDeleteAny idea what kind of snake??
It was a bull snake but it was big.
ReplyDeleteThat was a great picture of you two. I hope you didn't lean back though... Okay I have been known to walk on water when there is a snake around, so a ten foot jump sounds about right! :)
