We arrived in Garden City Tuesday afternoon, and went through our pile of mail. One of the items in the mail was a note from the bank, informing us that our address could not be changed because the bank needed proof of our citizenship. Mind you, these are accounts that we have had for over 15 years. We had to go into a banking center to change our address. We did that and had trouble because the "patriot act" does not allow you to have a P.O. Box as your primary address on banking accounts. We have a physical address in Garden City. But, mail does not get delivered. So, it is not in the postal system address files, which is what everyone uses for verification of an address. The banks computer would not accept our physical address. In the end, we had to put down Catherine's parent's address. Very annoying.....I have trouble understanding how this keeps me safe from terrorists.... enough said.
We have been enjoying the peace and quiet of Garden City. The only real action is the hummingbird wars. We have quite a few in the area now and this guy is my favorite. I call him "The Sentinel". He sits on this branch and then dive bombs anyone who comes close to "his" feeder. It was empty the other morning, and he hovered at the screen door until we got out there and got it filled.
We cooked a beer can chicken again for dinner. This one was not the usual BBQ. I put fresh rosemary and minced garlic under the skin all over and some in the cavity. Then I rubbed it with olive oil, salt, and pepper and cooked it on the beer can. It was really good. We served it with the grilled romaine salad Laurie posted about in June. Thanks Laurie, we love this!
We will be watching the deer and humming birds in Garden City until August 9. Then, we head north to Branson, MO for a rally. See you down the road...
That chicken looks so good! Wish we could do that on our grill but it's too tall :(
ReplyDeleteIsn't it fun being treated as potential terrorists? And they say they don't profile! I guess it only applies to those that are not full time RVers with no permanent address :)
Beer can chicken -- hmmm. Never heard of that one before and had to look it up on the internet. We'll have to give it a try. It sounds pretty good!
ReplyDeleteWe had the same problem with the address thing. What a PIA. But don't we both feel so much safer??
ReplyDeleteWe're just outside Garden City UT so it looks like we're in the same place in different states together....or something like that.
Being in one spot for a couple of weeks is really the way to go. Enjoy!!
I love Beer Can Chicken - I'll have to check out the Grilled Romaine Salad. We didn't have any trouble changing our address at the credit union, which is where we bank. We told them the situation, and they changed it on the spot. Same with Fidelity and Schwab - not a problem. You must look dangerous!!
