We did not get any more hiking done, while in Deming. As we were getting ready to clean the guest house, I was carrying in the shop vac and slipped on the step. I gave my ankle a pretty good turn which put me out of commission for a couple of days. It is doing much better now.
We moved from Deming to Las Cruces yesterday. It is always difficult for me to leave my mom. I never know if it is the last time she will have any recognition of me at all. We got a lot cleaned up at her house this trip. She does not understand what we are doing but it helps out her caregivers. We did get some flowers planted for her. She waters them several times a day. Since they live in the desert, that works out fine for the flowers and gives her something to do.
We are staying at Hacienda RV Resort in Las Cruces.
It is a nice park with lots of amenities like a pool and workout room. The shade trees are not quite there yet. The park is having a summer special for $30 per night and they are located close to the things we wanted to do. We also looked at Sunny Acres RV park. They no longer take Passport America so the rate was slightly higher than the current special here. They do have more shade. We may chose them next time in the area. Since I have a bum ankle, we are splurging and having the rig washed and waxed today. It is a belated birthday present for me. Hacienda has a mobile service that will do that on site.
The park is located next to a Winnebago dealer so I went over to get a new thermostat yesterday. Ours has been giving us grief off and on for two years and it has been really acting up lately. So, we figured we better break down and spend the $100. Of course, we had to order it. It will be shipped to Texas and ready to install when we get back there.
Speaking of Texas, we had an email from our friends Joe and Carmen. They had another fawn sighting on Tuesday and then yesterday .....
a new mama came with her twins. They are so cute. It almost makes you want to get back to that West Texas heat to see them. We are going to visit Old Mesilla today.
See you down the road...

It was nice to see a pic of the Hacienda RV Resort in Las Cruces as we stayed there just a year ago. Nice shot of the deer and fawns.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear of your mishap with your ankle. Hope it heals very soon.
ReplyDeleteWe're also thinking of you as you leave your mom. You're a wonderful daughter to her.
Take care of your ankle...sorry to hear you got hurt ;o((
ReplyDeleteIt is always difficult to leave aging parents, but they do want us to live our lives... She will really enjoy those flowers!!
It's certainly a heart ache to wonder if your own Mom will recognize you. Been there, done that. So sorry...
ReplyDeleteThe park looks like just the thing while your ankle heals. And the rate is great! We pay more than that just to pull off the road for a night on an interstate parking lot park with full hook ups.
ReplyDeleteHave fun!!
PS for some reason blogger won't let me post as myself. Google puts me into a loop where I sign in and back I go to the "secret word" page. Over and over. Hope this works. It's been 3 days I think since I've been able to get a comment to post on your blog since you don't have anonymous or Name. I don't seem to qualify for anything but google which on every other blog uses my blogger log in. Oh well.......
Ouch! So sorry about the ankle. They are so hard to stay off of...and don't forget to elevate it...so it will heal quicker :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time there...and rest up.
