Skiming the Beach

Today we went out to breakfast at our local  place Beverly's.  It is pretty good.    We decided after a big breakfast, we needed a walk on the beach.  We headed over to St. Pete beach to put our toes in the sand.
We walked barefoot in the water. It was not so much a walk - as a stroll :).

We have seen a few black skimmers around our place and now we found the nesting ground.  There were a bunch of them in an area that was fenced off for their protection.

We also caught some video of this one working the shore.  They hang the lower part of their beak in the water and just "skim" the surface.  It is really cool to watch them work.

We also came upon this turtle nest.  The eggs will be there 45-70 days and then the hatchlings will emerge and make a "run" for the water.

The Clearwater Marine Aquarium ( home to Winter, the dolphin with the prosthetic tail ) monitors the area beaches for turtle nests.
Hopefully, some of these guys will make it out to the gulf.
We walked down to the Don Ceasar hotel.  The most famous landmark on St. Pete beach.  It really is something.  We will have to go there for a drink at sunset one of these days.

Back home, I washed the car and Catherine and Grace met some new neighbors.  Tomorrow, we take delivery of some furniture.  We got rid of our bedroom furniture and our entertainment center when we went full time ( We had it about 20 years :).  We also replaced the end tables and coffee table I have had for 30 years.  I might break down when I have to let them go :)  Stay tuned ....

I feel your pain about the furniture, it is just stuff, but I understand the memories of having it for so long. Hope the new stuff is as good a quality of the old.
