Wednesday, I visited with my Mom in the morning and then headed over to Deming for lunch with my father and brother. My brother invited me to ride along with him as he checked the crops in the afternoon.First, we checked on the cultivation of the chili. The chili looks good- especially this field. He should be able to start picking this field in about 2-3 weeks.
There is nothing better than fresh green chili. After watching the cultivator run and making a few adjustments, we moved on to the cotton field.
The cotton also looks really good. It has not started to put on bolls yet but the plants are big and healthy.
Next, the corn. It looks really good as well!
After the corn we looked at some alfalfa fields and the newly planted squash. All the crops look really good this year. The hay needs to be cut, but the rain has prevented that for the last few days. With farming, it is always something.I flew back to Tampa yesterday after another visit with Mom. She seems to be doing as well as can be expected. It is good to be back home. Although I enjoyed the dryer, cooler weather in New Mexico this week.

It's always nice to travel but even nicer to come home.
ReplyDeleteI like looking at different crops growing in the fields.
ReplyDeleteThat is a gorgeous looking farm. Are you the farmer's daughter??
ReplyDeleteUsed to be- now I am the farmer's sister.
DeleteBeautiful farm!!! We are missing the fresh veggies this summer. They will not be ready for harvest in Maine until we head south and their harvest will be over;o(( But the wild blueberries are amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteNever had fresh green chilis...have to put that on my "to-do" list! Beautiful crops!
ReplyDeleteI've always heard that New Mexico grows the best chili's in the country. The farm looks terrific. I never realized that Cotton was grown in New Mexico either - nice to learn all this stuff from blogs.
ReplyDeleteQuite a variety of crops. I think I saw my new t-shirt growing in that field. :cD
