We left the hill country yesterday and made the drive back to home base. We had good weather and an uneventful drive. We arrived about 2:30PM. We plugged in to our new Hughes-Autoformer and have not experienced any low voltage issues. I don't have a meter to measure actual voltage at the post. So, I can't say if it is the Autoformer or if the voltage situation is better. I do owe Dave of "the wandering wingers" a beer. I was complaining to him about filling the coach and the diesel foaming. He suggested opening the inlet on the other side to vent the system. That works! However I also learned that when filling from the driver's side, you have to be careful because the passenger side inlet is about a foot lower. I only spilled a little :).
We will be here a couple of weeks. See you down the road...
Holy cow! Wait till I tell Rick there is a solution! I think we will owe someone a beer too!
ReplyDeleteSeems like there are a lot of things to learn in moving from a gas to a diesel no matter how long you've been RVing. Don't think I'd be up to it. I've got about as much complication in my life as I can handle. If I change rigs, I think I'll downsize to a little trailer with fewer things to know. :-)
ReplyDeleteWith the diesel cap lower on one side and being open, I can see where that could cause a wee bit of a problem - glad you caught it before owing thousands at the pump.
ReplyDeleteThat foaming diesel fuel is quite a challenge, it's even worse when using the truck pumps. I wonder how many dollars I've wasted on diesel fuel I've spilled when the foam came back out on me. Maybe I don't want to know.
