We spent yesterday at the Witte Museum. This is the last week for the "Dinosaurs Unearthed" exhibit. We have seen several of these exhibits with the animatronic models of dinosaurs.
This one is very good and we learned a few new things as well. It focused on the relationship between dino's and birds. It has long been hypothesized that dinosaurs and birds have common ancestry.
More recent discoveries, have provided more evidence and this exhibit gave that information. Many of the models had feather like downy which scientists now think helped keep some young dinosaurs temperature regulated until they were full grown.
We also went through the South Texas Heritage Center. This is really a crown jewel for this museum with many interesting exhibits on Texas history.
One more day in San Antonio and then we will move west to Garden City.

I'd never heard of dinosaurs with feathers before. Interesting!
ReplyDeleteI think I would have liked that South Texas Heritage Center. I'll have to remember that if I'm ever in San Antonio again.
ReplyDeleteNice museum trip especially without all the children;o))
ReplyDeleteVery cool. Will have to check that out next time we're in the area. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteA very interesting museum day and it wasn't even raining. :-)) I keep forgetting I can actually do that.
ReplyDeleteAlways something to new to learn. Who'd have thunk, T-Rex and hummingbirds are related! ;c)
