The travel weather was great today especially for August on the Gulf coast. The only issue we had was at a truck stop in Mobile. Some less experienced "truckers" left their truck partially blocking the entrance, while they went in to get lunch. This led to a huge jam up in the lot. We had pulled back there to eat our lunch after fueling. As I went in to get a sandwich, one of the guys in the truck came sauntering out. I informed him (not so friendly tone) that they were backing up the whole truck stop.
Of course, when I come out they have moved and so has Catherine and she is standing there chatting with the guy I chewed on. I zoom up and tell her we should probably scram before that guy punches me.
We scram and they blew by us on the road about 30 minutes later.
We are in Bay St. Louis at the Hollywood Casino - We are thinking about enjoying a dinner out.
Tomorrow- Beaumont and then on to San Antonio-Wednesday. Sometimes we get frustrated that due to circumstance, we have not been more places in our 17,600 miles. We will get there- for now --we like the places we have been....

Makes you wonder how some people can be so oblivious to their actions. Glad no punches were thrown. :-0
ReplyDeleteWe see inconsiderate truckers all the time. You'd think they would be the last ones to block traffic, wouldn't you.
ReplyDeleteWow. 357 miles. Now you're making me feel bad. We're planning on heading out today for a 583 mile trip that will most likely take three days. We are hoping to do it in two, but knowing us, it won't happen. I may just have to remind Al that if you can do it, we should be able to as well.
I understand the feeling of circumstances keeping you from exploring the country as much as you'd like. We're in the same boat. We're hoping to stay until November, but you never know.... Stop by and see us on your way back (if we're still there)
357 miles -- the new motor home must be a breeze to drive.
ReplyDeleteThat's a pretty good day of driving. Sure glad that trucker didn't try and run you off the road!
ReplyDeleteSafe travels on your next leg.
I can't imagine going that far in one day. That's a two day trip for sure for us and a long one at that. I'm a 150 mile a day girl myself. But then I don't drive a Breeze so maybe it's Winnona's fault.
ReplyDeleteOnly 357 miles? That's a good start for you PDD driving certificate. We did 18500 miles in our first year, so keep on practicing, you'll catch up with me soon. :c)
ReplyDeleteOnce we stopped at a truck stop and the lot was empty except around the building. We pulled to the farthest empty spot to stop and have lunch. Didn't want to slow down any hardworking truckers. It was so far away and empty the tumbleweeds were rolling by.
Then a trucker pulled up and parked right in front of us, blocking us in. I had Marti get in our toad and hold the wheel straight and I actually was able to back up about 30 feet without having to unhook so we could get around that trucker. I think he blocked me in on purpose.
