Yesterday was the "buyer's remorse" day. Why did we buy a place? Geez, how long has it been since anyone cleaned it? Is there really any way that the paint will cover this purple color? Grace just went and hid in the shower. Today was better. After putting a coat of primer on the Master bedroom, bathroom, and closet( yes the closet was purple), the color we picked covered well and we like it :D. Yesterday, nothing looked good with all the purple. We will finish painting the master bedroom and bath and then call in reinforcements for the living room and kitchen. We should be finished painting tomorrow and then we will focus on finishing the cleaning Tuesday. We will leave for Texas to get our "stuff" on Wednesday.
Yesterday, we worked till we almost dropped. Today, we took some time to enjoy our beautiful view and the champagne our real estate agent got us. We saw dolphin playing, an osprey hunting and lots of people enjoying a Sunday afternoon on their boats.
We have met lots of our neighbors and they are all very nice. Everyone says we will love it here and we think they are right. We already love it a lot more today than we did yesterday :)
Hang in there! It happens to all of us. It will be fine. But don't rush yourselves! Maybe you should go get your "stuff" next week?
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new home. What a view you have. I bet you get some nice ocean breezes too. And dolphins to boot!
ReplyDeleteNice neighbors and a dolphin view sounds great. Guess I'll take a message from this that into the contract goes "walls will be painted a neutral color" and "home will be professionally cleaned after being vacated". I've just spent a week with my lawyer daughter. :-)) Sorry your realtor didn't include those. Still can't wait to see the pictures!! It's gonna look great I know.
ReplyDeleteAfter the "storm"(painting over purple!) comes the sun (relaxing and enjoying the views)! Congrats on the new home.
ReplyDeleteI think buyers remorse is normal and hopefully you'll get over it. When we moved from Tampa to our place in Georgia, it was a long time before I would stop waking up in the middle of the night in a panic.
ReplyDeleteI guess I should have mentioned before, but we had much better luck with paint from Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore. No primer needed, but the paint is very expensive, but we felt it was worth it. We never found paint at Home Depot or Lowes that you could cover beige with beige and not have to use two coats.
Maybe you could hire a cleaning crew?
Safe travels to Texas.
When you get ready for a trip, I think you might like Lake Greenwood. We're on site 62 if you like our view, but lake front is probably nicer.
Just the thought of painting causes me flashbacks! :cO
ReplyDeleteNext time I'll hire someone, the heck with the cost...
That shower looks large enough to wash the Breeze. Is that why you chose this place? ;c)
