Super Moon, Garden City, Plans in flux,

I hopped out of the rig this morning to see if the "Super Moon" was still visible.  It was hanging out in the western sky.
We have been back at our Garden City home since Thursday.  Yesterday, we did a few chores - a better engine cover repair and installation of a new water pump. Our engine cover cracked on the edge. It seems the heat has made the fiberglass kind of brittle.  I had reinforced it once with a small metal strip.  That did not hold. Now, I have reinforced it with two larger strips and used JB Kwik weld on the actual crack.  It feels as strong as ever. We also covered the inside with a layer of reflecting material -hopefully that will help with the heat and the noise.

My brother called Friday, to let me know that my mother's caregiver has decided to leave.  That puts our plans for the near future in flux.  We knew it would happen sooner or later but were a bit surprised.  Our plan now is to go back to Deming around the 20th and stay until we either make other arrangements for home care or move her to a facility-   difficult decisions....

  2. That is a difficult decision to have to make, and can feel overwhelming.

  3. It sounds like you have a very tough decision to make. It's a tough choice.

I saw the moon last night but didn't think it was all that much bigger than normal. Strange.

  4. Thoughts are with you both as you go thru this stage with your mother. It's tough parenting your parents....

  5. Ditto what Tricia said. It's tough parenting your parents. My dad is 91, has macular degeneration and needs to be in assisted living but he won't go. I hope your situation is an easy one to manage.

How did you get such a great moon picture? I have tried every setting imaginable and the pictures never look that good. I had heard that this super moon would be looking more "super" at 11:30pm when it would be closest to the Earth but I was too tired to be up then so it looked pretty "normal" to me too. Although full moons are always so beautiful. Moon picture taking advice always appreciated.

  8. It is difficult to make this decision. Hope you find the right fit, the first time. One thing I have learned, you cannot make her happy, that is her choice. Any change will be difficult. But as a daughter, I have a responsibility to know that she is in a safe and healthy environment. Our thoughts are with you.

  9. I too, have traveled that road, and it is not easy. Doing what's best for your mom is the best you can do.
