We got a close up visit from this gold-fronted woodpecker yesterday. I chased several around Big Bend but could never get a good picture. This one posed right outside the rig.
Before we went to Catherine's Parents, we checked out the trail that runs by the campground, the salado creek greenway trail. It was a nice path to ride. However, recent creek flooding made it necessary to watch for limbs, rocks and mud on the trail. San Antonio has 34 miles of greenway trails. I am still looking online for a good map that shows how or if all the bike trails connect.
We enjoyed a nice afternoon with the family- eating too much and hanging out in the pool with our nephews. Catherine's mom loved the chicken :) She deemed it "folk art".
This morning, we will explore the trail a little more and then take Grace in for a haircut. See you down the road...
Pretty pecker pic!
ReplyDeleteI have never seen a wood-pecker that didn't have red on him. Very cool pictures!
ReplyDeleteFolk art! Yup. That's what it was :) Very cute Folk art!
ReplyDeletePlease be careful on your bikes. I still have bad memories of my last ride. :-(
ReplyDeleteNice pix of the woodpecker. I feel like a woodpecker (banging my head against the tree) every time I try to take a bird photo. For some reason, they just don't stay still...
