River Walk

Last night, we headed down to the River Walk downtown for the first time this visit.  It was a perfect evening.  It was windy at ground level but down by the river the wind was mostly blocked and the light breeze made it very pleasant.

San Antonio has always had tour boats on the river and a "dinner cruise" where you can eat as they give you a tour of the river.  They now have a "river taxi" service. You can buy a pass for one or three days and ride up and down the river as much as you please-cool!

During the Christmas season, the river walk is covered in lights.  This year they went with new "led" lights wrapped around all the branches.  In previous years the lights were draped down over the trees.  The new lighting has had mixed reviews from the public.  It does look different, but we liked it.

We had dinner at "Ostra."  It is right on the river and specializes in seafood. We were treating Catherine's parents for their 52 anniversary!  Catherine's dad got scallops (best item on the menu) and her mother went with steak.  Catherine and I both got fish. It was all very good but next time I am getting the scallops!

The restaurant was very good about acknowledging the special occasion and chef brought out a special dessert.  The parents had a good time  and so did we.

We have enjoyed our stay in San Antonio.  We are all packed up, watching the weather, trying to decide when to leave.  We will probably head out Saturday. If not, we will wait for the weather to move through and leave Tuesday.  Have a great weekend everyone.  See you down the road....
