Beware of Pirates. Saturday was the Gasparilla pirate festival in Tampa bay. The invasion starts when the tall ship the "Jose Gaspar" sailed by "Ye Mystic Krewe" leads a flotilla of boats up Tampa bay to capture the city.
The invasion is followed by a parade lots of drinking, lots of food and lots of beads. We did not make it down this year, but some of our neighbors with boats were flying their pirate flags and heading out to invade the city.
It turned out to be a beautiful day - just slightly cool for the party goers. We decided to go to ride our bikes down to the beach for a nice long walk. It was really nice. There were not many people and the skies were bright and sunny.
Sunday was overcast and cool all day with showers off and on. We managed to get the house cleaned up pretty well. And washed lots of sheets towels and blankets in our new washer and dryer. It is nice to have full sized units again. The boys have a little painting and a little trim work to do today. After that, it is waiting for cabinets and counter tops. We are hoping to be completed in 3 weeks.
We discovered these spoonbills living in a drainage ditch nearby. Love them!

Whenever I look at a full size W/D now, they look huge! It would be nice to borrow one every few months though :)
ReplyDeleteIt always surprises me to see such beautiful birds so casually! Hey, if you do head up to the Freezer, gives us a shout, we are about 15 minutes away from there.
ReplyDeleteShiver me timbers! I thought Tampa was a friendly place... :cD
ReplyDeleteThe spoonbills are such neat birds to see!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful birds! One thing I do miss from the S&B is the full size may tag! How wonderful to be able to wash more than one sheet at a time!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your new washer and dryer!
