Today, we were supposed to move from the Lazyday's campground up to Wesley Chapel. We are planning on staying there a couple of months. We pulled out of the campground about 10:30 am. Since it was to be a short move, we did not hook up the truck. I was just following Catherine. As we got just passed the campground, she put her turn indicator on to turn in to Lazydays???? She announced over the Walkie Talkie that a warning light came on. We pulled into service and I grabbed a mechanic who grabbed the Tiffin guy and they checked it out. The Tiffin guy-James- called the other Tiffin guy, Anson, and he came over and plugged his computer into the coach. The code indicated a problem with our DEF sensor. After more checking Anson determined the sensor is bad. Soon the stop engine light came on, indicating that we were in "limp" mode. They did not have a sensor in stock. So we "limped" back to the camground. Anson has ordered a sensor to be overnighted and he will come over tomorrow and install it. They have comped the campground through the weekend, if we need it. Another one of those "if it had to happen, we are glad it happened here" situations.
I am glad Catherine just pulled on in. I probably would have waited to see if it would go off and gotten stuck on 1-75 only able to go 5 miles an hour. Another day, another adventure...
Sorry you are having a problem, but glad it happened where and when it happened!! One thing you must be in this lifestyle is flexible;o)) Hope the fix is quick and easy!!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry this happened but it was great to be right by lazydays rather than way up the road when it did. Are you going to Quail Run? Say Hi to the folks in the office for us. Wish we could get down to see you. We'll be at Moffitt tomorrow but it's a 150 mile trip one way and he has appointments all day long so we won't have any time to do anything but drive and get blood draws, shots, infusions, see doctors and get back home. Hope all will be fixed for you tomorrow
ReplyDeleteThank heavens it occurred in a most convenient place and they can even overnight the part. It's nice to win one once in a while.
ReplyDeleteHope all goes smoothly and you get rolling quickly!
Good job Catherine! I love driving when everything is going smoothly but these machines can be sensitive.

Argh. Coaches are like cars -- they never get better, they only get older. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe more gee-gaws on the rig the more things to break, which is one reason we wanted a pre DEF rig. But I'm sure we'll eventually have to join the crowd.
Nice to have an easy service issue, instead of one 600 miles from nowhere.

At least you are at the right place. Limp mode is better than stranded mode. Good luck and hope they get it fixed quick for you.
ReplyDeleteHow fortunate that the warning light came on before you even got past Lazy Days. Hope you're soon rolling back down the road.
