Women's Final Four- Indianapolis

On and off since 1994, we have attended the women's final four games with a group of friends.  This year we are in Indianapolis.  Since most of the group is from Texas, this year we were cheering for A&M,although normally none of us would cheer from them.

Under normal circumstances we are Red-Raider, Bear and Longhorn supporters. At the final four, we  come together to cheer for a Big 12 team if one is represented. This year that is A&M.
So sporting our A&M shirts we went off to support our team.  I got asked "what the heck is an Aggie, anyway?"  That is not as easy to explain as you might think. :).
They were a big underdog to Stanford.  The game was close all the way.
At the final buzzer, it was Stanford 62, A&M 63. Wow, what an upset!   On to the second game.  We were cheering for the Irish(mainly because we have seen Uconn win so many times we are tired of it). Uconn was the favorite and at half-time it looked like they would run away with it.  It was late so Catherine and I opted to watch the second half in our hotel room.  And of course, the Irish turned it on in the second half and produced the second upset of the night.  A second great game!  It really gives you hope that more teams in the Women's game will become competitive and it will draw more fans.  Today we are off to explore Indy.  See you down the road....

  1. There was a time when we used to follow NCAA Bball, both men's and women's. Not so much anymore. We did see the news this morning of the two big upsets and smiled. I imagine there are quite a few people disappointed that UConn and Stanford are not in the final for a rematch. See ya in a week or so.

  4. Wow you lucky things. To get to see the women's final 4!! Very cool.

We were devoted fans of Univ of Virginia when Dawn Staley, the Burge twins and Tammy Reese were on the team. When the coach couldn't win with that line up we knew it was the coach. FINALLY nearly 20 years after it should have been done she's gone this year so we are hoping our team may be able to make a come back.

I'm glad to see someone else other than U Conn, TN or Standford! Lucky you guys!! and the Aggies won!! (Aggies - because it is Texas A(agriculture) and M (mechanical)????
