Snuggled up in San Antonio
We arrived at the San Antonio KOA about 2:30 yesterday. We will be here for a month. We got a good rate for the month - $20/night including electricity. It is great for us because this campground is so convenient to Catherine's family.
Catherine scrubbed the inside of rig from top to bottom and then put up the Christmas Tree - very festive. I plan on adding some outside lights that we have been carrying around for 18 months :). However, we need a wash first. It is raining this morning but I don't think that will do it. I plan on calling the RV wash guys to give us a good scrubbing next week.
We have lots to do in San Antonio: vet and grooming for Grace, dental check ups and pedicures for Catherine and me, the rig has to go in to get the coolant leak in the generator fixed and to check out our braking system. The parking break is giving us trouble about releasing. This caused us to over-heat the brakes when leaving Van Horn a few weeks ago. We used our Good Sam emergency service to get a mechanic to make sure the brakes were still safe. They did great. They sent a good mechanic and he was there quickly and checked that the brakes were operating OK. My Dad told us to back up a little if the parking brake does not release. That has worked. We will call Tiffin Monday and find out where we need to go for service. She should still be under warranty for chassis issues. Hopefully, we can get her all sorted out after Christmas and be ready to head to Port A in January.
Today, we are headed to Catherine's parents to celebrate her Mom's birthday.
She loves fruit pies so I baked her a cherry one last night. I was very pleased with how this one came out. I have not done as well with fruit pies in the convection oven but this one looks really good. I hope it tastes as good as it looks :)
Our hearts are heavy for the families of the shooting victims. It sure makes any of our worries seem insignificant. Our thoughts are with them.

Sounds like you have a lot to do...those all important pedicures at the top of the list. That pie looks great. I haven't attempted one in the convection oven! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThat pie looks good enough to eat!
ReplyDeleteYup, a good pedicure should be up at the top of the list :)
Get that brake taken care of and we'll see you next month!
who knows we may be neighbors again as we are looking for a spot for a month in the Rockport Port A. area starting in mid January...
ReplyDeleteWe really like Pioneer Resort because you can walk right out to the beach.
DeleteThat pie looks great.
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrific looking Cherry Pie - I'll bet it tastes as good as it looks.
ReplyDeleteGlad you got such a great rate at the KOA.
Make sure the pedicures are first on your to do list. And feel free to overnight one of those cherry pies. It was so cruel to post a picture on the computer where I couldn't get even a smell, let alone a taste... ;c)
ReplyDeleteI've stayed in that campground. You did get a good rate. :)
ReplyDeleteI like how the twisted lattice looks on your cherry pie (one of my favorites) - I may have to steal that idea for my next one.
ReplyDeleteHope your list of maintenance chores shrinks rapidly and resolve successfully. Seems like winter is the time to get them done; my list is smaller - but then my trailer is much smaller :)
Hats off to Catherine for a top to bottom scrub. We weren't nearly that ambitious but should have been. Do you three girls get to sit next to each other for your pedicures??
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are making good use of your month in Austin and will be ready for that time on the beach. I'll be interested in hearing about staying Port A and hoping that maybe one winter we can get out of Florida and do that.
Make my slice of that pie a large one please!
Nice that you are close to family for the holidays and can also get so much accomplished. That pie looks wonderful. Pie is my favorite...rather a birthday pie than a birthday cake any day:o))
ReplyDeleteWe will be back in San Antonio on Monday, Dec. 17. Would love to meet you while you're there.
