Christmas, Birthday and the Witte with Travelbug

We had a nice Christmas eve and Christmas day with Catherine's family.  Our gift to Catherine's parents was this Music of the Spheres, wind chime.  Made in Austin, they are billed as the "stradivarius" of wind chimes.  They are tuned to make beautiful sounds. We were very excited to give it to them because they both love music and spend a lot of time on their patio.

Catheine's sister made a nice breakfast for us on Christmas day. After opening gifts, we took our nephews to see "life of Pi" in 3D.  I really liked it and really liked the 3D presentation.  The 26th was Catherine's birthday.  We saw Lincoln early in the day -loved it! That evening, we headed downtown to "Ruth's Chris Steakhouse for her birthday dinner.
The restaurant is located near the historic train depot.  We had a great view of this decorated train as we dined.
The meal was great and they recognized Catherine's special day with a dessert trio mmmmmmm........

Yesterday, we met Susan who writes
Travel Bug for lunchAfter lunch, we went to the Witte  Museum.  We have been there before, but have not seen the new "South Texas Heritage" center.  It is really well done!  Lots of great displays and presentations about the history of San Antonio and South Texas and the people who settled this area.

We also learned that Texas is the only state that has FM "Farm to Market" roads in the country.  The funding for the roads was passed on a "get the farmer out of the mud bill".   Practical legislation- what happened to that?
If you are in San Antonio, we highly recommend the Witte museum.  They always have several good exhibits, and now this great new section on the history of South Texas.

Today, we are taking our nephews
shopping as part of their christmas gift.  I am not sure they are looking forward to it- but they will live :)

  1. HAPPY BIRTHDAY CATHERINE!! That dessert looks scrumptious! It's so pretty I'd have to wait a few seconds before eating it. HA!

What a perfect unique gift idea for Catherine's parents. Can't wait to hear about the shopping trip with nephews. Totally different than with nieces that's for sure.
