Balloon Fiesta Sunday

Saturday evening we sat outside and enjoyed the New Mexico State - New Mexico Game.  State won-:)!  Then I decided to check out the view from atop the RV.  I wanted to check out the vantage point because we really did not want to wade through the crowds again.  When you get up above the sea of RV's it is a clear view to the launch field.  We will watch from the RV.
Sunday morning first up - Dawn Patrol.....

Second up - Catherine.  First time up on the RV - does not like heights but faced her fear.
And "yes it was really that cold out there."  We are in position.  We have camera's, binocs, and a thermos of hot chocolate.
Here they come.....

What a great vantage point.   Some of them came right towards us.

Here comes the first special shape, peeking over the building.
Hmmm... She does not seem to be gaining much height
Uh oh, now she is going down.....
First available landing site is right in the RV parking area.  Short flight for this one today.......
Actually, several balloons landed in this field surrounded by RV's.  Some Landed and took off again.
One for Paul and Marti - fingers crossed!

Another one that came pretty close to us.....

It was a great way to watch the ascension.
People have asked if we are going up in a balloon.  We took my mom in Tampa for her 80th birthday.  We loved it but it is expensive about $150/ person.  So, we won't do that here but several vendors do offer rides.  I would recommend it if you have not done it.  We highly recommend the balloon fiesta. It is worth braving the crowds and it is a great to have your home with you.
 We are enjoying ours....

We are headed down to Deming to visit my mom for a few days.  I will post some balloon favorites in the coming days.

 See you down the road......

  2. Up, Up and Away!! What a great way to view the ballons:o)) Other than cold, it looks like they had great weather this year.

You may have already mentioned this, but where are you park? I am assuming you are boondocking. Hate crowds, but if we could park and watch from the roof, I would love this event:o))

  3. Oh my, on the roof! I wouldn't mind being up there, but getting down off the ladder would be way hard.

  4. Way to go Catherine! The first time I got up there was a bit scarey but I'm very comfortable now. The balloons were beautiful and the hot chocolate and no crowds sounds like a wonderful way to enjoy the event.
