It was a fun evening.
The Monday morning event was a race and it sounded like only a few balloons would participate. We decided to sleep in a little and get packed up and try to depart by 10am. However, when I got up to take Grace out about 6:30, here came the balloons again! This time all flying right over the RV area. We did not even have to get on the roof.
There are four RV parking areas-Presidential (30 Amp E/W looking over the launch field), VIP (boondocking right next to the launch field) Premium (30 Amp E/W) across the street and Standard (boondocking across the street). We were in the Premium. I think we had a great view from across the street and the set up was great.
Now instead of doing my outside chores for departure, I am looking up taking more pictures. Finally got a good shot of the official New Mexico balloon-registration #1912-the year of statehood.
We were surprised to see that even the special shapes were flying.
We were enjoying the majesty of these beautiful colors flying right over our heads. Suddenly, there was a disruption in the force.......
Darth Vader appeared, flew over and landed at the field in the RV parking area. If you have kids or grandkids, that is the place to be. The kids all get out there and chase down the landing balloons.
Monday, lots of balloons landed in the RV area and those kids were exhausted from running them down. The balloons just kept launching. Finally, we decided we had to focus on getting packed up and moving out.
This was our view as we drove out of the RV area...
We made it to Deming, about 2:30 in the afternoon. We are parked behind my parents house with full hook ups. Already a list of chores..... new screens, caulking windows, new light fixture....... It is good to be able to help out. See you down the road.....
You certainly had a great time watching those balloons. What a sight to see. Wonder if the balloonists think we RVers are crazy?
ReplyDeleteDarth Vader was almost my favorite balloon, but I had to give first place to the Remax one. ;c)
Been having problems leaving comments on your blog, had to access thru Google Chrome, something is blocking IE, my usual browser.
You must have hated to leave. The colors are just magnificent!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time back with your parents.
Cool...
ReplyDeleteAll that hot air reminds me that the political ads are right around the corner. Enjoy some family tome.

Thanks so much for taking me to the Balloon Festival and convincing me that I might actually want to do this myself. Such great pictures!!
ReplyDeleteSo how early do I have to reserve a site in Premium??? :-)
And what intelligent parents to put a FULL HOOK UP in their backyard. Smart cookies I'd say. Look at all the help they are going to get.
