We landed at the KOA in Van Horn which is the halfway point between Deming,NM and Garden City, TX. We were not expecting much in Van Horn but look at the view from our doorway- beautiful. I can't wait to see the sunrise.
I really don't know what to say about the visit with my mom. She was about 50/50- good days vs bad. She knew who I was- maybe 30% of the time. I am not sure it helps her much for us to be there, but hopefully it helps her caregiver and my stepfather. We will be back in December to give her caregiver a vacation.
We got into Van Horn with perfect timing: got parked and hooked up just in time for kick off. However, my Buccaneers are getting spanked. Oh well... it is still early. We will get to Garden City early tomorrow and be there until the end of the month. See you down the road.....
Glad you are settled. Thanks for sharing all of the balloon pix - stunning!
ReplyDeleteIt is very hard being a caregiver, so I'm very sure your help is appreciated. Even if your mom doesn't always know you some of the time, it means a lot to her when she does.
ReplyDeleteDown the road, you'll be glad you spent the time with her. I lost my mom to Alzheimer's last April while we were at the RV Dreams rally. I look back and am glad for the times I was able to spend with her, even if many times she didn't know me.
It's very sad to see your mom going through this. You're a wonderful daughter for visiting her and helping out.
I second Paul. It's hard seeing your mother in a way you never knew her. But I know that all concerned appreciate you being there.
ReplyDeleteThat is some beautiful view you have in Van Horn. What time is sunrise these days in Texas? We're back in EDT and I hate it. Sun comes up too late. Dark too late in the morning. Maybe we should just turn around and go back at least to CST. :-)
Our hearts go out to you as you cope with your mother's Alzheimers disease. You may not feel as if you were of much help, but rest assured that just being there was a tremendous help to her and your family.
ReplyDeleteWelcome Back To TEXAS
