Good to the last bite

We had a good feast.  This is the last piece of three pies made in the RV convection oven.  The pumpkin pies came out perfect.  This cherry could have cooked a little longer.  The last time I made one in the RV oven I cooked it too much and it was chewy.  This one- a little underdone.  I guess the third time will be the charm.   Maybe Sherry and David have some advice?  I am following their lead and polishing this one off for breakfast:)
Catherine's sister is home now.  Unfortunately, Catherine and her parents came down with a cold the day before Thanksgiving. So, we divided up the food and ate our feast separately. Yesterday, we spent the day eating leftovers, watching football and resting.  Everyone is feeling better now.  It rained most of the night last night... and it is still coming down -yea!
Today, the family is headed out for a matinee of the Nutcracker.  I volunteered to stay with Rebecca ( Catherine's sister).  I would rather watch football :).
We have been here almost month now and are getting "hitch itch". The Texas RVing women group is having a rally near here next weekend.  We have not decided, if we will attend. We will decide in the next couple of days.  In any event, we plan to head home to Garden City, next Sunday or Monday.  See you down the road...

  1. Hope you had some real whipped cream with that pie so you could get in your dairy for the day! :)

  4. I have not been able to master that convection oven...guess I'll have to you-tube it. lol Can't seem to follow the direction booklet. Know what u mean about the hitch-itch too. I've got it bad but we've got too much work on this sticks and bricks right now. Maybe soon. In the meantime I'm enjoying following along with y'all.

  5. It sounds like things are starting to return to some normalcy there. Soon, you'll be able to move on. Hope everyone is feeling much better very soon.

Oh, and yum! That pie looked delish!

  6. Bummer about the colds but glad everyone is feeling better. Excellent that you could use Rebecca as a good reason for football over ballet!! :-) Hope she's getting better too.

As for pie, you are a pioneer here. We don't have a convection over. Remember Winnona just had her 7th birthday. BUT I'm so glad to hear we've made another pie for breakfast convert!!

  7. Glad Catherine is feeling better. If you want to practice making more pies, we will be traveling through Texas soon!

  8. I only like two kinds of pie -- hot pie and cold pie. And that cherry looked delicious!

Is the convection oven just like the ones in nonmobile homes? We have one, and I think the only trick is to set the temp about 25 degrees lower than the recipe calls for. (But I'm guessing that it's trickier than that, or you would have figured it out already.) Happy travels
