One More Week....Some Thoughts and Thanks

I am enjoying my morning coffee and thinking about my last week at work.  It will be strange to be unemployed for the first time since I was12 years old. At 12, I started working in our family business- a John Deere dealership. With the exception of of few weeks here and there during my college years, I have had a job of some kind ever since.  When I turn in my lap top and blackberry, I may feel like I have lost an appendage :)  I am looking forward to that feeling, even if it takes some time to adjust.

Many people have commented that we are lucky to get to do this so young.  Yes, we are lucky. Many things have gone right for us. We have great friends and families, who have supported us over the years, in many ways. In addition, we have planned well and we are willing to change our lifestyle to "spend less and live more". 

I would like to give a shout out to a couple of our sources of inspiration and encouragement.  First, Billy and Akaisha Kaderli who "retired" at 38. We read their book "The Adventurers Guide to Early Retirement" in 2006. It really changed our thinking about what kind of retirement we wanted.  In 2009, we discovered Howard and Linda Payne and RV Dreams.    Their site gave us a wealth of practical information about living full time in an RV and great insights into the lifestyle.  Check out their sites.
