As we were walking back to the car, we heard a woodpecker trying to tap a hole in this metal pole and decided to try to get a picture. He worked at it a while and finally gave up. Then he moved on to a crack in the pavement and we were able to get a good shot. We had never seen this one before. Got home and discovered we had ourselves a Northern Flicker. A really pretty bird. Just another reminder that each day has its beauty even if it is covered in white stuff. Have a good week. See you down the road...

More snow and a new bird
It snowed a good bit of Saturday, we got about 3-4 inches at the house. We had to get out and go to a wedding last night and it was nice despite the weather. It was a heavy snow and was actually really pretty. It did not stick on any of the pavement so it was easy to get out and enjoy the beauty of it.

We decided to get out and take a walk this morning down by the river. Just happens to be a Starbucks between here and there :). With coffee in hand, we set out for a walk. The snow on these pear trees was being blown by the wind and this one threw a snowball at Catherine just as she got out of the car. It was pretty funny but I missed getting a picture. This Robin was also enjoying the sunshine. The red looks so bright against the background of the snow.

Flickers are real opportunists when it comes to food. I bet this guy was looking for some ants or spiders in the sidewalk crack! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures of the trees and the birds.
