What a Great Weekend!

We started off with Thanksgiving lunch at one of our favorite restaurants with some of our favorite people. In addition to turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and brussels sprouts, they had a raw bar, a sushi bar, and a carving station with roast pork, roast beef, and roast chicken- something for everyone!
After a great lunch with good friends, we came home and watched my Cowboys get stomped by the Eagles- no day is perfect.

We have been talking about getting a second car.  It seems like we have been working too hard at scheduling my habitat days and Catherine's driving for American Cancer Society.
Friday, we went to "look" and brought home this cute Honda Fit.  It is a manual so we can tow it and believe it or not- our bikes will fit in the Fit.  The back seats not only fold flat but fold up and back leaving a large space behind the front seats, for bikes. It is about 1000 pounds lighter than the truck so it should save us a little diesel fuel, if we tow it instead of the truck. It is supposed to get 37-40 mpg.  We will get to test that when we go to San Antonio for Christmas.  We are all for reducing the carbon footprint.
Friday night, we met some of my habitat buddies for drinks and dinner in St. Pete.  We got to see them light up St. Pete for the holidays- very nice.

Saturday, we went over to some friends for dinner and football- Auburn Vs. Alabama- Great food- Great Game!
Today, we went for a paddle around our island.  It was a beautiful day.  We did not see any dolphin or manatee - a little disappointing. It was still a great day to paddle. We came home and watched the Bucs lose- again! Then we made our condo "Merry" for the holidays.

Next week, I will do a habitat day on Tuesday and then leave to go visit Mom in New Mexico on Wednesday. Retirement-never a dull moment :)

But, it is all good …..

  1. Just reading your title made me smile and feel excited. You did have a great week-end and busy busy busy bees are you two. I am also excited about your Fit. I didn't know you could tow it 4 down. I didn't think the Honda manuals said you could tow any of their cars manual or automatic 4 down. Now I'm thinking......don't tell Ruby......37 to 40 mpg.........can't wait to hear how you like it. Did you buy it new??

    1. Most Honda's you can tow four down but this one only the manual transmission. We did buy it new. The used ones were almost as much as the new one.

  2. Are those raw oysters in the top pic? I've only eaten one in my life.

That long weekend does sound special, and a new toad to boot!

  5. A great weekend of food, good friends and football - doesn't get any better than that. The Thanksgiving lunch sounded awesome - I'd still be there for dinner!!

Nice catch on the Honda Fit - they're great little cars.

  6. The Fit is a great toad in the manual version. Up to 2014 the automatic was also towable, but Honda's come out with a new CVT automatic transmission that isn't towable. Sadly, they are putting it in the CRV next year, the end of another great toad.
