Myakka always delivers when it comes to gators. This big boy was waiting for us at the river bridge.
It was windy so the birding was not as good as usual but w we did see quite a few Turkeys including this beautiful Tom.
We found more gators down by the lake. This very large gator was sleeping peacefully in the sun. Then, a couple and their two kids walked right up to it. Just as we were commenting about how stupid that was.......
The gator started towards them , hunched up and hissing. It was pretty clear the gator just wanted to get them out of there but they were way too close for comfort. Just when you think you have seen everything.....
After Myakka, we went in to Sarasota for a late lunch at St. Armand's circle. Everyone else in town was there too! We couldn't get near the Columbia. So, we settled for a good Italian place. We are really enjoying having our friends here.
The End
I think many people have no clue about just how fast gators can move over shorter distances. Pretty scary.
ReplyDeleteToo bad about the spring break crowds. Hope the stupid family had enough sense to back off when warned. Luck friends to have great guides.
ReplyDeleteWell I guess Myakka can always be counted on to see gators. Too bad those stupid people have children, because they might end up getting them killed. This is gator mating season and they can be a little grumpy/territorial.
ReplyDeleteI hope the weather is nice for your friends visit.
Those kids walking up to the gators reminds me of the dummies who see how close they can get to the edge of the Grand Canyon cliffs! Dumb!
ReplyDeleteSeeing all those Spring Breakers, did it give you any flashbacks to your wild and misspent youth?
ReplyDeleteNot that I'd have any flashbacks, mind you... ;c)
